Semmes Continues to Expand Workers’ Comp Practice

Semmes is pleased to announce that Daniel J. O’Hara and Jacqueline “Jackie” Ridgell have joined the firm’s Workers’ Compensation and Employers’ Liability Practice Group as Counsel. Both will be based out of the firm’s Baltimore office. 

Mr. O’Hara brings over 13 years of experience in workers’ compensation matters, as well as 2.5 years of experience in all aspects of insurance defense litigation, including, but not limited to, claims involving construction defects, construction site injuries, slip and falls, medical malpractice, Eighth Amendment correctional medicine, automobile accidents, product liability, workers’ compensation, employment disputes, contract disputes, Maryland Insurance Administration claims, housing discrimination, and employment discrimination. Prior to joining Semmes, Mr. O’Hara was an Associate at two prominent Maryland law firms. He is a graduate of the Regent University School of Law. 

Ms. Ridgell brings to her practice more than 15 years of experience working as a senior staff attorney for The Hartford Insurance Company, where she handled a variety of employment issues, including workers’ compensation claims and related litigation. She has argued cases before the Maryland and D.C. state courts, including the Courts of Appeals, Circuit Courts, Superior court and the administrative agencies for workers’ compensation. Ms. Ridgell also worked as a senior staff attorney for the State of Maryland Injured Workers’ Insurance Fund where she handled an extensive caseload. She also has litigated cases concerning the Federal Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act.
