Experience
Nathan A. Carroll is counsel in the firm’s Litigation Practice Group. He focuses his practice on civil litigation, insurance coverage, and insurance defense matters, representing corporate and governmental clients in Maryland and West Virginia in state and federal courts.
Nathan represents corporate and governmental clients in complex insurance defense, tort liability, and other civil litigation matters. His experience includes evaluating liability exposure, developing litigation strategy, managing discovery, and handling matters through trial and appeal.
Nathan’s background combines significant government service with extensive litigation experience. He previously served as an Attorney Advisor with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, where he provided legal counsel on constitutional, statutory, and tort issues, including claims arising under the Federal Tort Claims Act. In that role, he analyzed liability and settlement strategy and coordinated litigation defense before federal courts.
Prior to his government service, Nathan litigated a broad spectrum of civil defense matters as a trial attorney. He has tried cases in state and federal courts and handled appeals before state appellate courts and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. His experience includes motion practice, witness examinations, pre-suit investigations, and multi-party litigation involving complex factual and legal issues.
