Mr. Houde is an Associate in the Firm’s Workers’ Compensation & Employers’ Liability practice group. He represents employers and insurers in the defense of workers’ compensation claims in Maryland before the Maryland Workers’ Compensation Commission, on appeal in courts throughout the state of Maryland, and before the Court of Special Appeals and Court of Appeals in Maryland.

Before joining Semmes, Mr. Houde was an associate at a Maryland law firm where he represented national auto and home casualty and liability insurers. While there, he served as first chair in multiple trials in Maryland District Courts and Maryland Circuit Courts. He also represented companies in defense of asbestos litigation in the Circuit Court of Baltimore City’s extensive asbestos docket. He has past experience researching and drafting pleadings for litigation in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C., courts across various practice areas.

Mr. Houde previously worked for a law firm in Washington, D.C., representing hospitals and hospital systems in Maryland and D.C. in all stages of administrative proceedings in front of the Maryland Office of Administrative Hearings. He also advised hospitals and hospital systems in complex disputes and assisted in maintaining, ensuring and establishing compliance with various healthcare industry regulations.

Mr. Houde received his law degree from the University of Maine School of Law and his undergraduate degree from the University of Mississippi. He is admitted to practice in Maryland state and federal district courts.
