Experience

Joseph N. Stepp is counsel in the firm’s Workers’ Compensation and Employers’& Liability Practice Group. His practice focuses on representing employers and insurance companies, particularly in federal black lung litigation and workers’ compensation cases.

Joseph is a seasoned litigator with more than 10 years of practice in areas including general liability defense, employment law, municipality defense, insurance coverage, administrative law, and disability law. He has significant experience handling both trial and appellate cases, including drafting complex legal briefs for various courts and agencies.

Prior to joining Semmes, Joseph served with law firms in Virginia, Massachusetts, and West Virginia. He has advised large corporations on risk management and insurance coverage. His work history includes managing high caseloads and facilitating extremely complex negotiations.
