Genevieve E. Hornik is an associate in the firm’s Workers’ Compensation & Employers’ Liability Practice Group. She represents employers and insurers in the defense of workers’ compensation claims in Maryland before the Maryland Workers’ Compensation Commission, on appeal in courts throughout the state of Maryland, and before the Appellate Court of Maryland and the Supreme Court of Maryland.
Before joining Semmes, Genevieve was an associate in the workers’ compensation practice at another Maryland-based law firm, where she worked on matters in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. She formerly served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Laura S. Ripken in the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County and as a paralegal in the in-house legal department of PayPal. While pursuing her law degree at the University of Baltimore School of Law, she worked as a summer law clerk for a Maryland law firm’s insurance defense practice.
While in law school, Genevieve participated in the Jessup International Law Moot Court Team, served as a student attorney in the Civil Advocacy Clinic, and was the editor-in-chief of the University of Baltimore Law Forum. Prior to pursuing her law degree, Genevieve worked in education, teaching children of all ages throughout the U.S. and in the UK.
