Experience

David Risk joined Semmes in 2020 as an Associate in the Firm’s Litigation Practice. David maintains a litigation practice primarily focused on representing and defending clients in matters involving personal injury claims, construction litigation, insurance coverage and ERISA, life, health and disability law.

Prior to joining Semmes, David was an Assistant State’s Attorney with the Baltimore City State’s Attorney Office. As a prosecutor, he litigated more than 60 combined jury trials and bench trials, and was most recently assigned to the Gun Violence Enforcement Division. Before David was promoted to his position as an Assistant State’s Attorney, he worked as a Law Clerk in the high-stakes Major Investigations Unit.

David was a Judicial Law Clerk for The Honorable Amy J. Bragunier in the Circuit Court for Charles County, Maryland, and also worked as a Judicial Intern for the Honorable Kimberly A. Moore in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, in Washington, D.C.

He received his J.D. from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, and received his B.A. from Pennsylvania State University.
