Experience
Anthony “Zack” Zaccagnini joined Semmes in 1993 and became an equity partner in 1999. He is a cum laude graduate of Washington & Lee University and he received his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law. While in law school, Zack distinguished himself by becoming Managing Editor of the University of Baltimore Law Forum and publishing an article on asbestos litigation.
Following his graduation from the University of Baltimore School of Law, Zack joined the United States Army where he was a commissioned officer serving in the Judge Advocate General’s Corp. While in the United States Army, Zack served as both a military prosecutor assigned to the United States Army Support Command, Hawaii and as a special assistant United States attorney, District of Hawaii. Subsequent to that assignment, Zack returned state side where he was assigned to the Office of the Chief Trial Attorney for the United States Army. As a member of the Office of the Chief Trial Attorney, Zack was responsible for all phases of government contract litigation on behalf of the United States Army.
Subsequent to his military service, Zack has concentrated in the practice of workers’ compensation, insurance defense litigation, construction litigation and white-collar criminal defense. He has extensive experience in the handling of all phases of defense litigation. He specializes in the handling of workers’ compensation and liability claims in Maryland and in the District of Columbia. Zack’s career as a criminal defense attorney has been highlighted by the successful defense of Linda Tripp before the Federal Grand Jury investigation conducted by Ken Starr of President Clinton and by Maryland’s State Prosecutor on alleged wiretap violations.
He is admitted to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia. Additionally, Zack is admitted to various Federal Courts, including the United States Supreme Court. He is a member of various Bar and professional associations, including the Defense Research Institute, Maryland Association of Defense Trial Counsel, Maryland State Bar Association, National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Risk Insurance Management Society (RIMS). Zack has also been privileged to appear on a variety of national and local television and radio programs to offer legal and political commentary.*
